A Gardener’s Solstice Song
The nation holds its breath, a hushed and frosted sigh,
A moment of cosmic pause beneath a silvered sky.
My garden sleeps, a tapestry of brown and grey,
The stillness of earth mirrored in my body today.
Like a distant lover, you've journeyed far, my Sun,
Leaving me with whispers of what your light has done.
Now, in the deepest dark, my spirit starts to yearn,
Yearning for your warmth, for lessons I will learn.
The days are short, the shadows long and deep,
Longing for your radiance while all the cold winds sweep.
My seeds lie dormant now, in slumber, safe, and sound,
My life hidden inside, resting beneath the frozen ground.
But hope, a tiny flicker, burns within my soul,
Awaiting renewal, making my spirit whole.
I know the turning point, the promise you will keep,
When you will return and my days will become longer until I'm back in your arms.
